In the Scea FAQ there is written that you have as much time as you want to upload your soluton after you downloaded the assignment from the certamanger.

but in this forum often is written that you have 1 year of time to upload the solution of the assignment from the date when tou downloaded the assignement form the certification web site; and the deadline changes from 1 country to another

I'm an italian candidate I phoned to the call center and no ones knows this infos someone on this forum knows which is the deadline from the download of the assignment to the upload ?

Another question, it is necessary to explicitly ask the upload rights on the certmanager web sites to upload the assignment or this rights are automatically setted when you did the download ?

thanks a lot
Vincenzo

The SCEA FAQ was written for a time when Sun was managing the SCEA certification. Now with the acquisition of Sun by Oracle, some of the FAQ entries need updation. It is true that you have 12 months to complete the assignment and then email it to Oracle for evaluation. Please look at the attachment with this message. I have highlighted the part of the image where it shows that you have 12 months to complete the assignment.

The download and upload process is now gone. In order to get the assignment, you will have to pay the fees and then print the assignment online. You will have two hours to print the assignment, after which time it will be no longer accessible. Also the uploading part is now gone. You will have to email the assignment back to Oracle after you have completed the assignment and taken part 3 as well.

Hope this clarifies.

Teja, thank you for the update information.
In this case, if I bought the assignment 2 years ago, could I still continue doing the assignment or I have to buy a new one?
Thanks
Alex

The instructions on the web site seem to indicate that the assignment should be completed within 12 months. So going by that statement, the answer would be no. That is you will probably have to buy a new assignment.

However, the best thing to do would be to contact Oracle and confirm the same. Considering Oracle's customer service (or lack thereof), it might be a while before you hear back from them.

The email address for part 2 is the same as per the web site and the cost for Italian candidate is 216 euros. The email address for part 2 submission is architect-submit_US@oracle.com

Please go through the official web site for SCEA on the Oracle site. To go to the official Oracle site, please follow the steps below.

  • Go to http://www.oracle.com/education/chooser/selectcountry_new.html
  • Select your country
  • Click on "Certification" in the menu on the left
  • You will find a banner titled "Important Updates Sun Certifications" at the bottom of the screen. Click it
  • On the next page, under the section "Certification Overview" click "Java Technology"
  • On the next page, click on "Sun Certified Enterprise Architect"
  • You will get the SCEA main page. Click on any of the parts (Exam, Assignment, Essay) and you will get details of that part
  • If the page shows that your country is still not combined with Oracle, you will probably have to check the details on the Sun site instead
  • To get an idea of the SCEA certification and its parts, you might also want to select your country as "United States" and repeat the above steps if information is not displayed for your country
