Hi,

As you may guys aware eclipse galileo consume lot of memory and oftenly it get stuck right? Does NetBeans better than Eclipse? I hope to use NeBeans 6.8. But the thing is in my office we use eclipse.

Thank You.

I rarely have memory issues with Eclipse anymore (3.5) and I think I'm only configured to use 1.5M now. Have you tweaked the ini file?

"Only" 1.5GB.

GUI IDES are one and all of them pigs. Even back when I was using Visual Café, it needed something like 600MB and the actual memory requirements were roughly the same, including for Forte, which is NetBeans great-grandaddy.

So I wouldn't base my IDE choice on memory footprint.

I know, right? I use a lot of plugins that do a lot of work, which hurts memory and performance. I'm generally under a gig, though.

Sure, I miss the days when I could write a full-screen assembly environment in 4K

That's what "vi" is for. Or edlin.

I did work for a while on a 200MHz/90MB non-GUI system using Emacs with the JDE plugin, which at least gave me a little code assistance. But it was stretching things.
