startDate endDate Form prefill

Dear one and all. I'm a bit of a newbie at this game, and was wondering if there is an easy way to prefill 2 form fields i.e. startdate and enddate (e.g. for a message) in either a actionform or dynaActionForm with todays date and todays date + 14(days) respectively. I know in the struts conf file it is possible to set static initial values for DynaActionForms - but not dynamic ones right? thus I'm assuming I've got to use a manual actin form some how and initialise it before I send it to the jsp? thanks and cheers in advance!
