Sounds like the account under which you are running JBoss AS does not have write access to the server directories. It would help if you described your situation a little more, such as how you are starting up JBoss AS.

And what command do you use to start the server?

Let's keep out the IDE out of the equation, for now. Please try starting the server from the command line. All you have to do is set JAVA_HOME to point to the JDK installation and run the run.bat file (from the command line) under the bin folder of JBoss AS.

Hi

Will this have an effect on my EAR file being created in the server\default\deploy ?

Because I do not see my EAR file in the deploy folder.

I guess it does affect the deployment. If the server can't be booted from Eclipse, then it won't be able to use it to deploy the file.

Do you have JBoss Tools installed into Eclipse? If not, i recommend that you do so. Then rebuild your project, and redefine the server, using Tools.

Here is what you have to do:

First, create a server - File | New | Other, then scroll down to Server. Fill in the New Server wizard selecting the correct version under JBoss Community.

When you create your EAR project, select the JBoss AS server created previously.

After you write your code, start the JBoss AS server from the Servers View within Eclipse (you might have to open that view). If you expand the JBoss AS server listed you should see the EAR file (as its project name) and the deployment status (which will be next to he server name). If the status is Synchronized, then it is deployed. If it is not, you can right-click the EAR and select Publish.

By the way, the JBoss Tools documentation contains many step-by-step tutorials for creating various different types of applications.
