JDBC Transaction in a Stored Procedure call

Hello,
Consider that we are executing a stored procedure using CallableStatement.
We have started the transaction in Java code and the Stored procedure being called also starts its own transaction.
As JDBC does not support nested transaction would this fail or the transactional context that was started in Java application will be suspended until the procedure is executed?
I encountered this question while reading something and at the moment do not have much resources to run this scenario.

Thank you in advance,
Amit
