Support for Chinese characters in POI API .

We am currently using the POI API version 2.5.1. When I try to export Chinese characters from DB in excel file using POI the characters are not rendering properly in the Excel file. Is there any solution for this problem. Would the use of current version solve the issue or there is some other solution for this.
