What do you want as explanation? The purpose of this code snippet? Did you have a look at Sun's RMI Tutorial

No I want that somebody writes something like:

We create an instance of RMI registry...
or
we get the reference to the RMI registry...

The difference between this two sentences is that in first one we create a RMI Registry (is it true?) in the second one we'll get the reference to the existing RMI Registry.
In second case my question is: who and how initializes the RMI Registry?

Something like this...

And did you already had a look at Sun's RMI tutorial? Or did you even had a look to the javadoc of these classes and methods?
