Hi is it possible to get bulleted and number lists in android edit text/multiautocomplete textview.

Can any one have a sample Java program to create numbers and bulleted lists with out using applets(android does not support applets)?

And how to use bulleted span to get the bullets? It's not working properly.

It's not working properly.

What does that mean? Post the code you have so far, and tell us what it does.

I'll move this topic to the Android forum; this forum is named "Sockets and Internet Protocols", so that's what it's for.

I mean using bullet span we have to select the text of each and every term then we have to click on the button for a bullet.Suppose if we select the total 5 lines of text we get only one bullet and if we press again on the button sequentially i am getting the bullet. So for each and every line we have to select then to click the button.Normally we get the bullets for total text at a time and if press enter another bullet comes. In bullets span it is not happening.

I'm not clear whether you're describing a 3rd party application that doesn't behave the way you would like it to behave, or if this is an application you're developing. If the former, then I don't see how any code you might write could help; if the latter, then post the code you're currently using, and describe how it does or does not work the way you would like it to.

Bullet items sure are possible - you mentioned bulletspans, so you seem to know that already. I don't understand what you mean by "autocomplete" in that context, though.

I haven't seen anything about numbered lists - you may have to implement that yourself.

Ya.finally you got the point. That's want i want to say.

Spannable is an interface in android using that we can bold, italic, under line our text. Also we can add bullets to our text with a class called bulleted span.It provides bullets if select the text not as our normal bullets as i said in my earlier posts. I know there is no Number span or some number listing supporter. That's why i am asking for a sample java program without applets for number lists.

Finally,,

Autocomplete text view is like an edit text in android, we can type, select, copy, and cut the text.

I know what autocomplete is; I just don't understand how it relates to bullet items.

Sorry, I don't understand what you're trying to explain; can you be more elaborate? Are you trying to put a Spannable *within* a text view that you're editing? That's almost certainly not a good idea - styles get in the way of editing.

All Spannables are equal in this regard, though - if you can use a StyleSpan (and I understand from your post that you have been able to do that), then you could use a BulletSpan instead.

Thank you,Dittmer for sparing time to view my question.

OK, i will explain clearly.I am trying to add special features to standard android auto complete text view(it has the similar properties like android edit text).

Those special features are,

1.Bold,Italic etc
2.Bulleted lists
3.Number lists

I am using spannable(interface),typeface and bullet spans(classes)

I got the first feature. But bullet span implementation is not full-fill as our normal bullet lists.I need help in this
Since we don't have any related spannable class for number lists.I have to develop that.So i am asking for sample java program or for any idea to implement number lists without using awt as androi does not support it.

Please go through bulletspan class and help me to get as our normal bulleted lists. At the same time idea to implement our own number list.

#2 and #3 are fundamentally different from #1, since they apply to multiple lines, and alter their text only at specific points (after the linebreak) instead of everywhere. So I don't think any of the existing Span classes are going to be of much help.
