Like George Costanza used to say in the famous TV series "Seinfeld", I can now say "I'm an architect" when someone asks me what I do for a living. If you don't remember "Seinfeld" or don't know what I am referring to, this youtube video would help you to jog your memory.

The hardest part of the certification was getting my assignment evaluated. It took a good month and a half to get it evaluated. I took my part 3 at the end of May and submitted my assignment the same day. Then checked the certmanager site every day for an update. After 30 days when I did not see anything, I emailed the oracle customer service to find the status of my submission. The conversation went something like this (As you can tell, I am paraphrasing a bit).

Myself: It's been 30 days since I sent my assignment. Where the is my result?
OCP: Who the are you and what assignment are you referring to? Send us your assignment again and we will send it to the assessors.
Myself: Here is my assignment again.
OCP: Ok. We have sent the assignment for evaluation. You can expect your results in 4-6 weeks.

Email after 5 days of this:

Subject: Sun Certification: Your assignment results‏

Hi XXXXX, Congratulations! You have passed the Sun Certified Java Architect for EE5 certification. You are among the elite 1% of certified Java professionals who have gone on to achieve the Java Enterprise Architect certification. Your certificate package is being processed for shipping. Look for a certificate in the mail in approximately 4 to 6 weeks. Thank you for all your efforts with this certification, and good luck in your future endeavors with Java. Please let us know if we may provide further assistance. Regards,OCP Team

As many others have mentioned, this has been a fantastic forum which helped me to stay motivated throughout my preparation which lasted about 3 months (2 months for part 1 and almost 1 month for completing parts 2 and 3). I will do my best to help others on the forum. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to give back to the community that I benefited from.

I will probably be able to reply only after Wednesday (14th July 2010) as I will be on a vacation till then.

Thank you all for your kind words.

We've gotta get close enough to that helmet to pull the choke on it's engine and flood his mind! Or, we could just read this tiny ad:
