I've been a software developer for 30 years (but not Java) and I was recently laid-off (again).
I just finished a Java class at a local community college and now I'm hoping to get through the SCJP exam so I have something substaintial to put on my resume.
I'm trying to plod my way through Kathy and Bert's book.
Please help!!!

I tried to post earlier but something went wrong with my post. Please always use the "code" button when posting code. Since you are new, I have edited your post and you can see how much better it looks.

I think that code will compile, but not run; you will suffer an Exception passing a double to a %d tag. Ty changing the type of x to int.

You will need a %f tag for fixed-point output. More details in the Java™ Tutorials and the Formatter class.

Thank you for reminding me; I was mistaken about %e which will print 9.99999e6 or similar.

Sorry for that mistake.

And always use %n, not \n in printf and similar methods.
