can any one help me how to refer external jars from tomcat.
In other words, one of the webapps is need external jar. However, we should not copy that jar into web-inf\lib rather we should refer that jar which is located in the same machine.
Webapps are expected to be self-contained. The only time they would normally access classes outside of themselves would be for infrastructure such as the container APIs and container-supplied services like database drivers. You wouldn't normally reference classes that were from a completely unrelated part of the machine.
JARs are not DLLs and Java is about Enterprise-grade service, not merely stitching stuff together. So usually, if you have an external service, you make it available through some sort of service provider (server) application.
