For what purpose using 'oracle-ds.xml' and for what using 'oracle-xa-ds.xml'?

The *-ds.xml are for defining datasources to connect to any database.

Can you elaborate what details are you looking for?

I'm assuming you are talking about the example DataSource configurations shipped with JBoss? You use the XA DataSource when you need two-phase commit behaviour (i.e. you are using a distributed transaction).

Your assumption is correct.

Must I need or use the oracle-ds.xml to define the data source?

It doesn't need to be that specific file. Any *-ds.xml in the deploy directory defines a DataSource.
