Not sure if this is the right place to ask but here goes.

I am working on some software design for a system I am unfamiliar with (good luck right!). One of the developers I am working with keeps using the term agent and proxy. I.E. he has agent classes (Agent1, Agent2) on one side of the network and proxy classes (Proxy1, Proxy2) on the other. I am just looking to understand the terminology. If anyone can briefly describe, or better yet point me to a site that describes or shows pretty pictures of what this really means that would be great.

Thanks in advance for any help.
