Having worked at home for more than two years, some of that stuff is actually true. There's little reason to shave. You work in bare feet, or with slippers. Sometimes you work in your pajamas. And you really appreciate it when your wife gets home -- as she is the only human contact that you have all day.

The hours are also longer -- as you start when you wake up, and since you don't need to make a train, there is little reason to stop.
