Hello all,
while writing a jsp page i faced a problem using generics.


the error is:



ERROR [[jsp]] Servlet.service() for servlet jsp threw exception

when i removed generic syntax from Arraylist then the code works fine.
why this error and how to remove it.

Hello vikky,
are you sure that you are using jdk 1.5 or above?
Your code works fine on jdk 1.6.16 (sun), tomcat 6.0.20

Indeed, looks like you're not using java 1.5+

Just so you know, using scriplet in a jsp file is not a good practice.
You better use something like jstl

Java code (scriptlets) in a JSP have been discredited for over 8 years now. It's long past time to stop writing JSPs like it's 2002.
