I'd like to read from an audio file to see the amplitude of the sound (only that, I don't need neither lenght nor freq nor etc) and I don't even know where to start. I've seen the AudioInputStream and I did not see anything there.

I've posted this here as its somewhat related to the streams.

What file format is this? The OtherOpenSourceProjectsFaq points to various libraries that can access audio files; some of them may have a way of returning this information.

The format is raw 16 bit 8 kHz signed
