Can somebody tell me how to build a system using RMI that allows processes from different computers to bind items? is one registry enough or do we need several?
and how can dead references be avoided or cleaned up after a bound object has crashed?

I agree. Here's the link: http://zeroturnaround.com/jrebel - it saves me about five hours per week
