Helios, Tomcat 6, Dynamic Web Project - Reading Config File Problem

Hi

I have Helios and Tomcat 6 set up on my iMac.

I was very impressed with the Dynamic Web Project approach as it is now possible to link in files from outside the project. I have three websites that use the same admin jsps, so now I keep them in a common area and link them into the three web projects. Really excellent.

But now I have a problem and I think I must be going mad...

The first site I was converting to this new flexible approach I shall refer to as BT. I decided to get the admin area working first, that is the back end. All went well but then I started getting problems:

A Problem Occurred dialog appears which says: 'Publishing to Tomcat v6.0 Server at localhost...' has encountered a problem.

Publishing failed with multiple errors

And in the 'Details >>' text box I get:

Publishing failed with multiple errors
Resource is out of sync with the file system: '/commerce/WebContent/.DS_Store'.
Resource is out of sync with the file system: '/commerce/WebContent/WEB-INF/.DS_Store'.

I click OK and it continues loading for a while and then:

log4j:WARN Was not allowed to read check file existance, file:[/Users/media/Java/projects/web/BT/appfiles/ActionServletBespokeLog4j.xml].
log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (dev.commerce.ActionServletBespoke).
log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly.

and...

SEVERE: Servlet /commerce threw load() exception
javax.servlet.ServletException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission /Users/media/Java/projects/web/BT/appfiles/MailHandler.properties read)

I would seem that for some reason my project can no longer read log4j xml configuration files etc.

I have spent the last twelve hours or so trying to sort this out. I have created minimal servlets etc. that try to read configuration files and they all have the same problem...

Has my version of Helios broken?

Is it a bug or something?

Have I set something up wrongly?

Is it an OSX problem?

Any ideas?

All help would be appreciated.

Up until this problem I was well impressed with the new development environment/approach...
