I don't know if you are talking about some specific sub-forum here. But as always, some forums here have very high traffic and some have moderate traffic.

not more new topics poped out

It depends on the forum. For example, the Java in General forum is having a book promotion this week and you'll see a lot of new topics in there.

Humans are easy to fool. I remember just after the year 2000 I was able to spend the afternoon answering questions and engaging in conversations on the Ranch. While I have not been able to do so for a while, our own site monitoring shows that the traffic is far greater than that period. Hence I am forced to conclude that the site is busy but not always in the areas that I peruse or in areas of my personal interest.

Depends on what your value is for "old".
It seems to me that traffic on The Ranch fluctuates along with the school year, with the most traffic coinciding with finals.

I find a *lot* of comments mentioning that they're amazed at how quickly things are answered: we're blessed that we have people from all around the world, across timezones, answering questions at various times of the day, generally within hours.

Questions that remain unanswered may be things that readers simply don't know, or don't have time to answer, or are asked in a way that makes it impossible or undesirable to answer.

I think 4 months is not a less time to make an statement...when you're spending more time to it...
