I've been working with a lot of builds lately, both on Tomcat and Eclipse.
ant was fairly intuitive, but even then you had to do futz around with install and Tomcat manager, or do an xcopy of the build/ into the webapp root.
So for eclipse, I'm not clear
where would a lib/ and jar's be put ? ( I realize, in theory, an external jar can be linked in from anywhere, but I haven't had luck with that )
The documentation seems really pretty weak, as far as how the eclipse build process works.
My guess is that WebContent will hold WEB-INF/ web.xml and lib/ also, if you created it, and WebContent will never be moved.
build/ ends up with just the compiled java (.class files)
Quite related is how to include .jars in the build path.
I've seen quite a few posts about including .jars and the issues encountered but no definitive method on how to do it successfully.
I'm guessing, if you exported to a .war, that would include .jars whether internal or external, so portability would be maintained.
My problem is: external doesn't seem to work ( ClassNotFoundException ) so I guess I'll guess at the structure required for internal.
clarification and suggestions welcome !

One other odd thing:
trying to include a local jar, eclipse would not show the dir's under WEB-INF/ so I could not navigate to lib/ and select the jar to include.
seemed really strange; perhaps I'm missing something; hopefully someone more knowledgeable can fill me in. thanks
