From here:

Oracle claims that Android infringes on four Java patents it acquired when it bought Sun Microsystems earlier this year. Java software makes it possible to write software code that runs on multiple kinds of hardware via a Java interpreter. Sun had open-sourced most, but not all, parts of Java, but was considered by most other companies as unlikely to aggressively protect its patents

Oracle is getting crazy.
They have even stopped the OpenOffice because it's open-source.

Some good background material about the lawsuit is at https://coderanch.com/t/507155/ba/Understanding-Oracle-vs-Google-Android

They have even stopped the OpenOffice because it's open-source.

Nonsense. Being open source, they couldn't "stop" it even if they wanted. And they didn't withdraw support because it's open source, but because Oracle has no business interest in competing in the desktop office market. Of course, Sun had no such interest, either, but McNealy let his ego get the better of him in trying to annoy Microsoft - not good business sense.

That news is relatively old

The discussions about forking java make for an interesting follow up read

But there is also good news.
