Got the mail from Sun that I passed the exam. This forum has been a big help. And I have learned a lot during the past 2 months (which is the most important thing)

Just a note to fellow ranchers about following up with Sun Prometric about the essay just in case its been a while since you heard back. Prometric was not able to locate my essay for almost a month. After multiple email follow ups, they finally uploaded the essay to Sun. During this time, the only team keeping in touch with me was Sun's OCP team. I did not get a single mail from Prometric, nor did I get any response to my ticket raised with their customer assistance. Sun's OCP team escalated the issue and finally got everything in place for me. Big thank you to them.

Anyways, now that this is out of the way, I hope I get enough time to help out fellow ranchers on this forum.

Hey Rajiv...That is a great news!!

Congrats and happy partying :-)

Its a custom in ranch that every one writes a small essay sharing their struggle, happiness and cries during their preparation phase!! Few precious points about Things which they have learnt and want fellow ranchers to follow etc etc...I leave it your imagination!! (within the boundaries of rules)

This would really help people like me who are already in the middle of the lake, with no destination insight, at least for now !!

Here is what I did for Part 1
http://www.coderanch.com/t/508520/java-Architect-SCEA/certification/Cleared-SCEA-Pt

For Part 2, Cade's book gives a very clear picture of what is expected. I didnt study anything else for Part 2, as I have some realworld experience designing applications at work.

For Part 3, there is no studying required. If you completed part 2 on your own, then you already know the rationale for your decisions. Search this forum on what kind of questions to expect for part 3. There was some good post about it in the past.

Yeah, when you take part 3, you might be tempted to justify most of the decisions with "because this is how it was in Cade's book. I really don't like JSF, JPA sucks, component diagram is a joke; 40 points for that? are you joking me? and only 16 for the sequence diagrams?".

While that represents a refreshing bit of honesty , don't do that. Come up with some well researched verbiage and let them have it for maximum points.

Hi Rajiv

Same thing happened to me, I received email from OCP saying that they got my assignment but didn't see my part 3 answer in their database.
I believe this is a problem from Prometric.

I'd like to ask how long did OCP solve the problem for you since you emailed them your situation and what email address you contacted to them.
I hope I can hear answer from you , because I am really worried about my current situation , Thank you.

Regards,
Xin Qi

Xin, yes, the problem is with Prometric. Prometric needs to send the essay to Sun. I am not sure why there is a delay or why they dont respond to your queries on the situation.
For me, it took around 1 month for Prometric to send the essay to Sun. I was in touch with Sun's OCP Team on the same email address that you use to submit the assignment (architect-submit_US@oracle.com). I would recommend sending an email to Sun every 10 days politely asking for an update.
