Hi All,
I am working on an application where Java Servlets are deployed in iplanet web server. Whenever the call hits the server it prints the log messages in the console as written inside the log method in the Servlet classes. The task is to increase the log level which can have a details description of the message.

Please suggest me the approach to do this. Please note I am not allowed to use any kind of logging mechanism like log4J etc..

You can format or change the log level, to do so you need change into file ‘logging.properties’, this file would be available inside lib folder of your jre.
i.e. C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\lib

Why not? Are you expected to brush your teeth without a toothbrush as well?

log4j is tons better than the native Java logging system. Its open source, works with ancient JVMs. Its a lot easier to use, and easier to configure.

You should switch to using it.
