main method in Action class

I saw that some of the Action classes in the project at my employer have 'public static void main(String[] args)' methods probably for debugging purpose. I was just wondering how those methods could be called/invoked. Could someone please expplain? Thank you

They can be run the same way you run any simple java program.
The same way you ran HelloWorld

java -classpath .... classname

The main method just lets the class run standalone. Presumably (as you said) for debugging.
