IBM is one of the largest technical companies in the world and if I remember correctly they are the creator of what has since become the standard 'Personal Computer'. They are very big in IT consulting, hardware, operating systems, software (including WebSphere application server) and are big in the Java community.
BEA were the creators of the Weblogic Java Application Server and other software, the company was purchased by Oracle several years ago.

IBM has its own Java EE application server: WebSphere.

BEA, which is now part of Oracle, also has a Java EE application server: WebLogic.
