My debit card "locked up" on me yesterday.

I went to the bank, and they told me that there were local "network problems".

Twitter told me these problems were at least regional if not national. (LOTS of people reported the same thing on twitter.)

So far the news has been pretty darned quiet on this situation...

hmmm...

did any of you guys experience this?

I tired to use my debit around 2-3 in the afternoon, central time, and it was declined. I have used it subsequently.

Sorry guys, that was me. I had to take everything down to swap out a bad power supply. Bet you didn't know that our entire national banking system runs on a Dell 8250 tower in my hall closet.

Did you back up the internet to a floppy first? If not, you may want to consider it for next time, just in case anything goes wrong.

My bank's iPhone app said that mobile banking was "temporarily unavailable" for a while on Saturday. (Around 3 or 4 PM Central time.)

Floppies get corrupted. I would suggest taking printout of it as well, to serve as a backup.
And make sure you do a 2-side printing so that the whole process is as green as possible.

Nothing is impossible; for those who doesnt have to do it themselves.
