Question on textfield next to DATEPICKER icon

Is there a way in JQuery whereby I could prevent a user from entering a date in a textfield and forcing them to click on the javascript tcal date picker icon next to this textfield to choose the date but it would still display in the textfield?

I would like to accomplish this in the form onload event. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you..
