This week's book giveaway is in the Agile and other Processes forum. We're giving away four copies of The Mikado Method and have Ola Ellnestam and Daniel Brolund on-line! See this thread for details.
I have cleared SCBCD5 with 86% marks today. The exam was not so tough, but it covers a really wide range of topics (EJB3 and JPA1). This is being split into 2 exams for the upcoming J2EE6 version. I had lot of experience with EJB2 (SB, MDB, EB etc) but not much with EJB3. It took me over 3 months to prepare for this exam. I did lot of coding and then only started to learn theory just for the sake of the exam. Most of the questions are Transactions / Exceptions based and I am glad that I got 100% in Transactions, 100% in Exceptions, 100% in Entity operations, 100% in Persistence units / Persistence contexts, 100% in MDBs, 83% in SB, 85% in JPA entities. However I scored only 75% in Security, 66% in JPQL and 66% in EJB3 overview!
I have used OReilly EJB3 book and EJB3 in Action to start with. Then covered Mikalai Zaikin's study guide (which is really great). And then EJB3 and JPA specifications and API's
For mock exams I have used Enthuware which is an excellent tool. Most of the real exam questions are similar in difficulty to Enthuware. I have used JBoss 4.5, JBoss MQ, Oracle 10g etc. for practicing.
A Big thanks to Mikalai Zaikin and Enthuware and the Java Ranch forums!
I got my certificate and silver colored credit card sized badge "(Oracle certified Professional Java EE 5 Business Component Developer) effective Nov 14, 2010" with my name on it.
I think all OCP's are silver in color and all OCM's are golden color! For SCWCD and SCJP I got the certificate within a week after the exam.
