Hi,I have just started preparing for the SCJP6 certification (from kathy and bert) and have come accross the objectives in every chapter.
My question is that do i need to solve these objectives or should i only read through them and proceed further??

I have solved the excercises in the chapters but i did not understand about the objectives.

Thankyou.

Objectives are like syllabus of the exam. When in the book objectives are listed in the beginning of the chapter, it means those topics are covered in the chapter...

[Edit: misunderstood the question , the question was about the self test objective questions at the end of each chapter]

The objective questions are very important and they give you the feel of the real exam , hence solving those is important

Hi..

Yeah I too have just started to study and using the same Book.....Really good book by the way!

I graduated in Computer Science and I have been programming in C# for a couple of Years now!........But so far I have been studying and programming all over the net and studying from the book for 3 days now and I have Covered the first 2 chapters of the book Fully including the Threads chapter and a great deal of the Exception Chapter(Needs more time )

the main thing is that Java is very close to C# and the Objectives are close to what you would have in the C# books.....although even though the 2 languages are very similar it took me 3 to 4 long days of programming to just get to where I am now!.........And I still have a Long way to Go!!

Did you also find the Questions at the end of each chapter challenging??.......I DID!

They are a challenge to anyone studying for SCJP. After a lot of practice with mock exams you'll not have problems with such questions...
