Hi All,

I want to know sites like wordpress and blogger.com or even gmail. In which format they save data like emails, articles atc? As far as I know its in HTML format but how do they save it ? If in file system is there any particular format in which the data is getting saved which is easy to search and load?

I am not convinced you have asked your question in the most appropriate forum. I shall try moving you: not sure where, but it sounds like a possible "general computing" question.

  • Such sites generally use a CMS, which come in both file-based and DB-based variants. For the large sites you mention it'll most likely be DB-based.
  • They store what you enter - HTML if it's an HTML email or blog that supports HTML, plain text otherwise.
  • Searching will likely be done through a search index (implemented using something like Lucene). You need to filter out HTML markup and such, and that is impractical to do at search time.

  • Ping & DNS - my free Android networking tools app

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
