PII laws for Cloud hosted environment

Hi,
I am hosting my site in public cloud and I was told that PII [personally identifiable information] laws in certain province (like in Canada) enforce you to have data hosted within province itself.

I could only think of using private cloud.

Any suggestions on how to address this?
