depends what you're looking for.
Installing a Virtual Machine or SAN would count as 'a cloud project', but so would using Amazon Web Services such as SimpleDB or any of the Google offerings.

Well outside my area of expertise, but my opinion is that if it interests you, go for it.

What reading have you done on cloud computing?

to develop a desktop on cloud for individual users

Do you mean like a virtual Windows or Linux PC? You can essentially get that already from Amazon. Or are you talking of a full VDI solution? That's a lot of work!

@peter
thank you very much for responding.
Yes, it is similar to virtual linux. i've just started learning jsp and j2ee to do the project. What is a VDI? We are planning to include one or two simple applications in the virtual desktop.

@peter: oops sorry... i understood what a vdi is...
we are not planning to develop a fully integrated vdi... obviously not as a mini project. As i said, we are planning to develop a virtual desktop and to add one or 2 basic applications.
We'll be submitting our project abstract this Monday. I might again have to disturb you all after a while for your valuable advices... c ya
