Why does the command window not appear after typing CMD in the run box?

I tried many times to open the command window by typing CMD in run box but it doesn’t appear. Why it is happening I don’t know. I am really a computer illiterate. Can somebody help me???

Which operating system do you use? I'm guessing you are on Windows OS. Have you tried typing cmd (case-sensitive) in the run box?

windows OS mostly do this problem.,,if you use windows xp or vista then upgrade this OS to Windowas 7.

windows 7 is more secure than vista and xp.

I haven't used Windows 7 or Vista, so I don't know. But certainly this isn't relevant to the question the original poster had.

Steve, which version of Windows are you using?

Have you tried from the Start Menu going to All Programs, Accessories, and then selecting Command Prompt?

P.S. I would ignore Thakur, his advice makes no sense.

Hi friends,


The operating system is Windows XP sp2.

I have tried all the possible way to fix this issue and got it finally ... Now this issue has been resolved.

Used this guide http://www.completepcpedia.com/cmd.html
