I have a JavaScript function that gradually decreases the text size in an element until it disappears. It does this by using setTimeout to recursively call itself, decreasing the element's style.fontSize until it reaches 0px. Then, to make sure it's vanished, I set display to none.

The issue is that Opera (unlike Safari, Firefox, and Chrome) appears to be enforcing its minimum font size during this process. So the text dwindles down to about 8px, and then stays there until the iterations finish and display is set to none.

So can I use JavaScript to override this setting in Opera, and then put it back when I'm done? (I'm guessing not, but...)
It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
