We are using Weblogic 8.1 and Oracle 9. My question is how does j_security_check know which table in database to check for user and password, what are the column names etc. Where is the SQL located/generated?

I think j_security_check will delegate the actual authentication to Authentication Provider configured in WLS domain (under Security realm, if I remember correctly).
