autoboxing and synchronized

Hello,
I have the following Code, the m1 method ( int is not valid type argument for the synchronized statement ) doesnt compile .
Can please some one explains ?

You cannot synchronize on primitives. And by the message given by the compiler- The autoboxing to Integer doesnt happen there.

If you are trying to synchronize access to x, which is common to all instances of TestClass, you need to obtain lock at the class level.

you can synchronize this way also.

synchronized( int.class) {
System.out.println( "bla bla ...");
}
