Any recommended approach in handling concurrent access in web tier ?

Hello All,

As I read that in the usage of servlet, container would take the responsibility of spawning multiple threads for concurrent access, if the servlet is a multi thread servlet. In such cases, the thread management becomes the responsibility of the developer. So are there any recommended architectural approaches or patterns that could guide the developer in handling such thread management.
