disabling the html:image

Hi All

I have a form. To submit the form I am using <html:image> tag of struts.
All the form elements are validated on the client side using a separate javascript file (check like mandatory fields etc) when we click on the submit button (which is an image).

So everything works fine so far.

Now the client has asked us to disable this button (i.e. html:image) once the user clicks on it. This also implies that we have to first finish the client side validation which is in the javascript file on click of the button (i.e. html:image) & then disable the same (i.e. html:image) .

But I dont think we can access the struts taglib in javascript to actually disable the above from the javascript file. Correct me if i am wrong.

Has any one encountered this sceanrio or if you know about a possible solution do post your thoughts
