I am preparing for SCJP 1.6.This is my first certification exam so I am bit worried.I used to work in Java earlier in 2007 but after that took a break of 4 years for some reasons and now I want to get back to work again so decided to give the certification.
So just wanted to know from experts, Will certification help me in updating my Java knowledge?? also Is it going to help me in job search??
Also need some tips on Chapterwise studying for SCJP 1.6
As far as updating your knowledge is concerned, SCJP will help you with that. The content of SCJP exam is chosen very carefully to include topics that you'll need in your daily life as a programmer. As far as job search goes, it will give you an advantage in an interview, but a certification alone can't guarantee a job...
As Ankit pointed out, you need certification and knowledge (including other JEE technologies) to get a job.
But definitely, a certification adds value.
If you are not willing to spend too much money then simple visit this forum, ask questions, see other questions and answer them, write a lot of code in unique ways, refer 2-3 books, give some online mock exams. That's it, you are certified. It's simple but requires time and effort.
