Bing copying Google's results

Hello Ranchers,

Recently I came across an email with the information saying that Microsoft's Bing is copying the Google's search results.

The official information on the same from Google is here -> http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2011/02/microsofts-bing-uses-google-search.html.

Can't really digest this! What do you feel?

I liked the Colbert Report segment on it.

I think Google did a nice experiment. It is incredibly unlikely real users with the bing toolbar were searching for "hiybbprqag" and then click on the artificially inserted "result."

Google's results could use some more massaging as well for that matter.

Exactly. I was very amazed with this fact and the diligent efforts Google had put in before they can allegate!

While I agree that its an interesting result, and showed impressive skills on the Googlers part. I'm also convinced that its not important. Moreso, I think it was stupid on Google's part. What they did was say to the world "we are so paranoid that we think Microsoft is stealing from us" when the proper attitude should be more like:

Microsoft? who are they? do they have a search engine, wow, didn't know that.

I am surprised that Microsoft is so nonchalant about this. After all, Bing is the supposed "decision engine" right? A huge improvement over a regular search engine right? Where is the value add if they just regurgitate Google results?

Not that I'm a Microsoft apologist, and it was an unfeasibly dumb thing for MS to do, but does no else feel it a little ironic of Google accusing others of copying "their" copy? Isn't this an accusation all sorts of organizations have been leveling at Google for a while now? (Google Books, YouTube, Google news etc.)
