Custom JTextField Problem

Hi there,

I am trying to enhance some features some built-in components and customize some functionality to ease my life for database applications. I am aiming to use the JavaBeans standard, however I am facing this problem (NetBeans6.8), the component doesn't render.
It is very weird too, that the propertyChangeListener calls are triggered before the empty constructor, however I think that maybe something I will understand as I get more familiar with the beans concept (but if you find the 'null' verifications when accessing the propertyChangeSupport member strange or not adequate, at least you know why ). What I try to start with, is a JTextField with some text transform and restriction functionality. The full code is as follows:

Any help is very appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
