I am using the Spring framework. And I use Maven to build the project; therefore, I have a pom.xml file.

I need to import com.thoughtworks.xstream.annotations and there is a free download xstream-1.3.1.jar.

I have tried to put the xstream-1.3.1.jar in the project main/java/resources directory and in the project main/webapp/WEB-INF/lib directory. But the xstream-1.3.1.jar cannot be recognized when I use pom.xml to build the project.

I think that I have to put the JAR as a dependency in my pom.xml file; however, I do not know a proper way to specify it. Please help. I can show some of my depency specifications in my pom.xml file. I just do not know how to do it for the xstream-1.3.1.jar.
