Now that Oracle "owns" java, what is the fate of the SCJP exam? Is Sun still "in charge" of the "valuable" Java certifications, or did they go somewhere else. Thanks in advance for your response.

Hey, I knew what "wither" meant! :-)
So, based on the link, it looks like, as of this moment, the Oracle equivalent to the SCJP looks just like the 1.6 SCJP, and in terms of study materials out there the 1.6 SCJP books out there would be perfectly okay. Did I get this right?

Yes. The OCPJP is the SCJP 6.

Nope, I actually do think it's valuable. I've been in hiring situations where the deciding factor between two identical candidates was the extra sun certifications.
