Hello everyone,

I have been noticing more and more people with Blackberries and other smart-phones. 99% of the time, they use it to update their FB status, text message, or play video games.

Is there a way that Blackberries or other smart-phones will make you more productive so that you have more time to spend with family, watch Jeapordy, etc?

For me, I've always had poor time management (and other issues, in other words, opposite of A-type personality) and if it weren't for the Miracle of God Almighty and my Outstanding Family, I would be a mess. If I can shoulder some more of my family responsibilities then more work can get done in less time and we could spend more happy times together and enjoy the richness of life.

Do these smart phone really help someone work smarter? If so, can you recommend any functionality, or applications that would help?

In my case, I go out on-site a lot to work with clients. And in many cases, I don't have an internet connection. With my blackberry, and BES, I can do emails, look up schedules, phone books, etc., and this data is kept in synch with the exchange server.

Plus, in NYC, phones don't work at all in the subway -- and text messaging is a great way to send a meeting point to someone (which is better than using voicemail).

On one hand, you can say I am more productive. But arguable, I can say that without the smart phone, I probably can't function -- and wind up missing meetings, etc.

A tool can make you more or less productive. It depends how you use it. This is true with paper and pencil as well. You could doodle during a meeting or play hangman or write a plan.

I find the BlackBerry makes me more productive. It has e-mail, contact information, etc. Of course the first thing I did when I got my corporate BlackBerry was uninstall BrickBreaker. After all, why do I need a game on a work device.

Wonderful feedback!

Well, do you know of any uses of Blackberries, etc that can help forgetful and absent-minded people. Of course, overcoming forgetfulness and absent-mindedness takes lots of personal discipline, and if an electronic device can help, so much the better!
