Hi Folks..

I am installing apachae tomcat with the 'Apachae Tomcat Installer' and I have run into some problems. Within seconds of the start of the installation, I am getting an error that says:

"Failed to install Tomcat6 service.
Check your settings and permissions.
Ignore and continue anyway (not recommended)?

I went into control panel and under 'User Accounts' noticed that my username is listed as belonging to the 'Administrators' group. Since that is the case, why am I having this problem? I hope someone can help. Thanks.

You could probably turn off user accounts and then install Tomcat. Later on you could surely turn that back ON, but be sure to RUN THAT AS ADMINISTRATOR, when ever you start the service.

SCJP 1.6(91%), SCWCD 1.5(100%), SCBCD in progress

Never run the Tomcat service using an Administrator account. Never.

Gaurav - you're not really giving us much to go on here. Version of Tomcat, Windows would help.

You could always download the zip version of Tomcat. In the bin folder, there is a service.bat file that will install Tomcat as a windows service.
The command is: service install Tomcat6

Doing this will install Tomat using a local service account. Change that to a "local user" account with as few privileges as possible.

Thanks, leo
