Problem understanding application.xml

Hi

I want to know whether we can have ''/'' as an entry for <Context-root> in application.xml file,as I want to specify the context path while I install the .ear file in the Websphere server(using RAD).If I don't keep <context-root> entry I am getting an error.

Here is the application.xml file :
