I've passed in the mid December 2010 part1. Because of a problem I've with my credit card I need to postpone the purchasing of part2.
I'd like to ask if there is any time window / deadline I should purchase part2 or I can purchase part2 at any moment (since part1 remains valid) ?
As far as I know, there is no time limit to buy the part 2 and part 3 exams.
But once you buy the part 2 exam, You should submit it within 12 months from the day you buy it. Your part 2 exam evaluation will being only after you take the part 3 exam. So its advicable to take part 3 and submit part 2 assignment.

Thank you for your reply. I have to admit that I'm a little bit confused since I've read on the Oracle Certifications web page that
The essay consists of 8 questions in reference to your assignment submission.
So this is ambiguous, but does that mean that the 8 questions are strictly related to the content of part2, in other words, they are meant to verify that you are the author of the solution and not someone else?
If this would not be the rational of part3, I'm wondering then why Oracle did not include the essay in the part2 assignment and let only 2 parts?

Yes, your expectation about Part 3 is partially correct. Questions from Part 3 are in general related to the assignment of Part2. But they are not STRICTLY meant for verifying who the author was, for the simple reason that they don't know what design you have come up with, until unless you submit it. Mind you, you can take Part 3 exam, before you submit the part 2 assignment, which makes it technically impossible to frame questions suitable only to your design. But until unless you design the system on your own, I don't think you know how to answer those questions.
For example: How your design supports so and so functional requirement?, To which you have to answer from your design point of view.
But those questions are applicable for all assignments and not specific to any particular assignment. They are general in nature, But you have to answer them from your own design point of view and support each decision you made while coming up with the design.
