Heyy everyone , just joined the forum. Indeed the most Awesome place to be on the net if you're a JAVA guy/gal

Just a general unrelated to JAVA query: Any of you know: How to change the Windows startup tune/sound in Windows 7 Ultimate (X64 bit edition) . Really tried a lot, end up messing the OS core dll files so any ideas as to how to go about it ?

On the desktop --> right click (personalize) --> sounds

Moving this topic to "general computing".

It also drives me crazy that there is no way in the UI to change the startup sound (Henry, your suggestion lets one change the login sound, but not the startup sound which happens before the login screen appears). Fortunately, my Bose speakers are muted by default when I flip on the power switch and I usually don't turn them on until after I've logged in.

Anyway, google change windows 7 startup sound yields many suggestions. Though I recall a discussion in another forum that many of these tricks which worked for the beats don't work for the final release, especially for 64-bit. I'll try to find that post.
