I believe (my opinion) that version 5 is still indicated, since the new version is still very recent. In version 5 we have the personal notes, books and simulated. You can even try the new version, but it will take longer to pass.
I purchased a voucher couple of months back planning to take SCEA. But now I'm unable to pursue it and have decided to take up Webservices certification. My voucher expires in June 2011.
I would like to know the difference between Webservices 5, webservices5 upgrade and webservices 6 exams. (Not only objectives, but which should be taken)
Which one should I opt to take now?
Your help is deeply appreciated.
webservices JEE 5 - Exam for JEE 5 webservices
webservices5 upgrade - Exam to upgrade from JEE 4 to JEE 5 (you should be JEE 4 WS certificate)
webservices 6 - Exam for JEE 6 webservices
if you intend to take it in June, you have enough time.
JEE 5 Vs JEE 6
- JEE 5 - JAX-WS was added in detail (compare to JAX-RPC in JEE4), and REST was introduced, UDDI/JAX-R are still part of it.
- JEE 6 - REST is asked in detail, JAX-WS is still there, UDDI/JAX-R are totally removed
rest of topics are same (XML, SOAP, Handlers, SAAJ, JAXB, JAXP, JASON, Security, Deployment, Arch., Inter-portability).

So shall I proceed with JEE6? Can I follow the study noted and materials available for the rest of the topics and study in detail about REST? (Can you suggest some good book for REST?)
Also, is there any book which gives by example how to create a webservice and publish and consume it?
Can't really say this book is too good for REST but I think it's pretty good for hands on
SOA Using Java Web Services by mark Hansen. It's recommended by couple of people here in the forum. Can't totally vouch for it though since I havent reached that far. I am planning to give the certification (232) in April.
SCJP 1.4 90%, SCWCD5 94%, Next SCDJWS--> In Naescent stage. Researching abt exam and material itself.
