Howdy Ranchers,
I would like to know whether it's worth to put effort in taking SCBCD certification any more as there are a lot of open source frameworks(e.g, spring) around. I know it's worth for those who have been working extensively on EJB's.
But I am wondering how important is this certification in the present/future market?
Please let me know your thoughts
Thanks
Shobhan

J2EE is big, and knowing about EJB is far from being useless. You may have to use EJB at work. Maybe not. Nevertheless, I think it's still worth studying about it. Not necessarily taking a certification. But if you're serious about it, it's kind of rewarding to pass the certification.

Christophe,
Even I have this question. Now with lot of new projects opting for Spring to manage transaction and beans I rarely see companies asking for EJB professionals.
I am afraid of the scenario where I invest time and effort for the certification and I don't get to use it in the future I will feel that the efforts got wasted.
I would rather go for the architect certification and learn Spring on my own (can't take up Spring Certification due to the cost factor ... ).
Any suggestions.

Whatever you study, it'll never be a waste. It will always be a benefit. Even if you don't use it. The more you know the better. If you don't want to know ejbs from a to z, then you may be more interested by the architect certification, which requires only a basic understanding of ejbs.

Thanks Christophe. I completely agree with you on this that knowledge is never wasted.
For the moment I am targeting the architect exam.

Hi Christophe,
Thanks for your reply. My question is not knowing/learning about EJB's but getting certified. I have quite lot of experience working on EJB 2.0/3.0 specification. my point here is how importance does EJB certification carry in the present market?
Thanks
Shobhan
